Playback at the pulpit!

Here is Pastor Holly at The Neighborhood recently bringing the ‘good news’ … I’ll be sharing in the context of their “Open Pulpit” Sundays, when community members are invited to share on meaningful topics.

I’ve been invited to speak from the pulpit of The Neighborhood (United Church of Christ) in Bath, Maine, on Sunday, June 1st and would love for you to be there too!

As many of you know, playback theatre has been a passion of mine since I first encountered it in 2008. I recently had the delightful and inspiring opportunity to learn from Jo Salas, co-founder, with her husband Jonathan Fox, of playback theatre.

It is my firm belief that welcoming, inclusive spaces where we are all invited to tell our stories is needed now more than ever. Playback theatre is a co-creation between storyteller and actor(s). Without true stories shared from the audience, there is no performance! Playback celebrates our shared humanity, while honoring the individual voices present.

My time at The Neighborhood will include remarks followed by a performance portion where “neighbors” —those present— will be invited to share stories spontaneously.

I hope you will join us on Sunday June 1st at 10am at 798 Washington St, Bath, ME. All are welcome!
