Podcast I Love
Are you in search of a podcast that will educate you, entertain you AND really get you thinking?
Allow me to suggest the series Scene on Radio !
In the seven seasons this podcast has produced, I have thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot from listening to Seasons 2, 3 and 7… and I’m still listening!
In Season 2 Seeing White the host John Biewen looks at “whiteness”: where does it come from, what does it mean, what does it serve? Answering these and other questions, John is joined by leading scholars and regular guest Dr. Chenjerai Kumanyika. This fourteen-part documentary series was released between February and August 2017.
And if what you learn sparks your desire to go deeper, may I suggest these two groups of white people doing the work:
White Men for Racial Justice
and for White Women: Tapestry
Join me and countless others on this journey of unlearning our programming and becoming proactively antiracist.
In Season 7 Capitalism “John Biewen and co-host Ellen McGirt (…) outline the history of capitalism, from its emergence in Europe 500 years ago up to the present. And they explore alternatives, from reforms of capitalism as we know it to more radical transformations.” I enjoyed learning about the origins of capitalism and hearing from diverse voices on how this economic system impacts them.
