"Be a good bird."
What an honor to be present for Dwayne Tomah’s keynote speech* at the BTS Center’s Green Teams Gathering last weekend. Dwayne Tomah is a Passamaquoddy Language Keeper, educator, and former Tribal Council member. His talk was combined with a screening of the powerful documentary “The Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking The Domination Code.” This film is a result of the collaborative efforts by Dakota filmmaker and Director Sheldon Wolfchild and Co-Producer Steven Newcomb (Shawnee, Lenape).

We need each other more than ever today.
Left wing or right wing, it’s the same bird. These are systems that divide us. Be a good bird.
When well intentioned people come up to me and ask “What can we do?” I tell them: Walk in a good way. Come from here [hand on heart]. *

After lunch participants were invited to choose from several breakout immersion experiences, one of which I lead with Solar Playback. The response was very positive. I felt gratified as I played back the stories that poured forth from both the larger first group and the more intimate second group. What an honor to witness and playback true stories and feel the resonance in the room.
These photos were taken by Art McClanahan during my breakout session with the second group, and over the course of the day. Were you present at the event? Contact me to share your feedback, I’d love to hear from you! Curious about how Solar Playback can enhance your next gathering? Please be in touch. I would love to explore the possibilities with you.
