Nia's 53rd Move!

Many of you know or have heard me reference the 52 Moves of the Nia Technique, the movement vocabulary or “language” of Nia. Examples of some of the 52 moves are: “Heel Lead”, “Sumo Stance”, “Creepy Crawlers”, “Outward Block”, “Pelvic Circle”, “Slow Clock” … and the list goes on!

Well… this just in… BREAKING NEWS… I’m here to pronounce that I am adding a 53rd Move, and it is…. (drumroll please…) “Sipping with friends” — That’s right! Where would any of us be without the community that holds us up when we’re down, that brightens the day when we’re feeling overcast (or outcast), that keeps us accountable when we want to quit?

I know the answer for me is that I would not be where I am today, that’s for sure! Not to mention where would we be without that perfect cuppa (coffee or tea, hot water & lemon…. what is your pleasure?)

To celebrate our shared time on the planet, our shared love of Nia, and to get to know each other even better, I am inviting you to the “53rd Move” a monthly meet-up of like-minded, openhearted “Dancers Through Life”.

Let’s have our first official rendezvous at Mr. Bagel in Westbrook at 10am Saturday, November 19th directly after Saturday morning Nia class (8:30-9:30am) at the Westbrook Community Center. Come join us directly from class at the WCC (a 5-minute drive), or meet us there whether or not you are able to attend class. The more the merrier!

Mr. Bagel is located at 609 Main Street, Westbrook
