"Father" June 2nd

Join me and the cast of The Teller’s Garden this First Friday, June 2nd at The Portland Media Center. Our theme is “Father” in honor of Father’s Day and we invite audience members to volunteer true stories from their lives on this theme:

Father, dad, papa, daddy, pop, pops… many names for one person, though some of us may have more than one. I myself have one dad, one step-dad and a male mentor who has sometimes been in a fathering role for me. What about for you? What does being a father, having a father, knowing or not knowing your father raise for you? What story, moment, or memory comes to mind and heart when you reflect on this theme? Of course, the theme of father extends well beyond our family systems into Father Sky, Holy Father, Grandfather Thunder, Founding Fathers, Father Time, and other symbolic father figures.

We want to hear your story and play it back… Let’s watch!

Playback joins the art of improvisation with deep listening and creative expression to honor the universal in our shared human experience. Each performance in a unique blend of real life grit, including the highs and lows and everything in between, and artistic interpretation by our actors.

We create a safe space in which all “tellers” are welcome and —we hope— moved to share from the heart with the aim of relating deeply to one another’s lived experiences.
