These are the 9 movement forms that Nia draws from... Are you familiar with them all? (I wasn't when I started Nia back in 2008 as a student!)

Nia in my own words - You're invited!

I love Erin’s vivacious vitality! She makes the class FUN! I am so happy to have found Nia. It makes me feel crazy alive!

I recently completed my third marathon and raised money for Nia Scholarships, funds that I am using to offer Nia to folks who couldn't otherwise afford it. I am so grateful for all the individuals who contributed to this fund! Together we raised $1,364 in just one month!

"In a typical hour-long Nia class, we set a focus and intent for the class, step in, and begin to move The Body's Way. I guide students to sense their bodies as we follow movement patterns that borrow from the martial arts, dance and healing arts. Students' movements may well be different: some may be moving bigger, some smaller, some faster, some slower.

In Nia it's about moving YOUR body's way, not mine! I serve as a guide for the group. It's also about listening to your body as you move, so you can choose what feels good right now, in your body, in this moment. The only way to know if Nia is right for you is to join me for class! Bring a friend to your first class and if you are new-to-Nia you both get class for the price of one! It's my way of saying thanks for being courageous enough to step into something new!" ~ Erin Curren, Nia Black Belt Teacher

A 3 1/2 minute video about Nia from Nia Australia... Enjoy!

Erin brings my emotions to flow with the music — I get totally lost in the moment. I love everything about this class! Nia is a gift that reminds me to be present in the moment. I love the way Yoga, Tai Chi and the other forms on the movement-meditation spectrum are involved with the music while doing an aerobic workout.

I presented on Nia at PechaKucha Portland. Enjoy, and when in doubt, call on Wonderment Woman!

I love Erin’s spirit...It is clear that she loves Nia and loves to move. That spirit is contagious. She is very welcoming and encouraging. She makes it safe to be oneself and move or not, as feels right for your body. Plus it is so much fun!
